MILITARY MISSION FUNDRAISER &
TURKEY EXPEDITION CONTEST

WHAT IS THE MHC MILITARY MISSION
The Military Ministry began in 2006 when a sergeant’s wife burned Mars Hill audio and video sermons on to discs and mailed them to her husband who was at the time deployed in Northern Iraq. The sergeant, Al Lobaina, and other soldiers would watch one sermon a week on a laptop through a projector with speakers hooked up. When he returned from deployment, Sgt. Lobaina began to mail deployed soldiers MH materials out of a Seattle warehouse.

Two years later, the Military Mission was officially incorporated under the Preaching & Theology branch at Mars Hill and to date, the Military Mission has provided over 3,500 copies of Re:Lit books, 100 ESV study Bibles, 50 copies of the Vintage JesusDVD curriculum, among many other resources.

Today, the Military Mission conducts the Mars Hill Air War through round-the-clock combat operations in the air, on the ground, and at sea to servicemen and women in Afghanistan, Iraq, Korea, Germany, Australia, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the Persian Gulf and throughout the United States. 

SUPPORT THE MILITARY MISSION
The work of the Military Mission recently captured the attention of a few Army officers, who asked if we could help raise money to provide scholarships for soldiers to attend the Turkey Expedition with Pastor Mark next July. The Mars Hill audience has always been generous in response to such needs, and so this time we decided to add some extra incentive.    

WHAT DOES THE GOAL ACHIEVE
By reaching the goal we will be able to not only send 20 soldiers on the Turkey Expedition, we will also be able to equip over 2,000 soldiers around the world with books and study curriculum making a huge impact in the ground and air war. 

WIN A FREE TRIP TO TURKEY
If we’re able to raise $50,000 for the Military Mission by September 11, we’ll say thanks by selecting one random donor to join the Turkey Expedition, all expenses paid. You have to give to be eligible for the trip, but whether or not you can travel to Turkey, anyone can give in support of the Military Mission.  

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SOLDIERS
Our goal of $50,000 will not only pay for 20 soldiers to attend the Turkey Expedition but also provide books and study curriculum for 2,000 soldiers around the world. After the donation period ends on September 11, we’ll invite any active US Military personnel to apply for a Turkey Expedition scholarship.

All results—donations, contest winners, and scholarship recipients—will be announced on Twitter by the end of September (contest winners and scholarship recipients will also be notified via email). 

OVERVIEW
- The goal is to raise $50,000 for the Military Mission.
- Reaching the goal will ensure thousands of soldiers receive books and study guides. 
- An invitation for a non-military person will only be sent out once reaching the goal of $50,000. 
- The person will be randomly selected from the list of people who donated through this campaign.
